Love of storytelling

Lisa Scardina is a writer with a keen sense of observation and a big heart.

Scardina spins and weaves threads of story both real and imagined, connecting her Polish ancestory to her childhood in Detroit to her modern family now centered on a small apricot orchard at the end of the Oregon Trail.

Joys and sorrows come together in straightforward vignettes. Small sensory experiences unlock universal truths of family loyalty and deep nostalgia, connecting the past to the present.  Her stories remind us that it will all be OK.

On every side the brown waves of the earth rolled away to meet the sky.
